Help with Picture.Repair.
Most questions have a short answer below. For anything else, email support@picture.repair. Tell us your iPhone model, iOS version and roughly when the problem happened.
Auto-repair isn't running
- In Picture.Repair's Settings, check that auto-repair is on.
- Picture.Repair needs access to your whole photo library to see new photos. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > Picture.Repair and choose Full Access.
- Check that you have credits. When you're out, new photos wait and you get a notification.
- On iOS 27 and later, iOS decides when to hand new photos to Picture.Repair, usually when you are on a network and have enough battery. Low Power Mode can delay it. Plugging in on Wi-Fi usually helps.
- On iOS 17 to 26, new photos are repaired when Picture.Repair runs. Open the app, or set up a Shortcuts automation so it runs hands-free: in the Shortcuts app, open Automation, add a personal automation for "Charger" > "Is Connected", set it to run immediately, and add the "Repair new photos" action.
- Some photos are skipped on purpose: screenshots, receipts, documents, saved images, near-duplicates, photos that already look right, and anything your Never repair rule covers. Skipped photos cost nothing.
My new photos haven't come back yet
New photos start processing as soon as they arrive; there is no overnight batching wait. A repair often takes about a minute, but retries and service availability can take longer. iOS controls when background uploads start. You get a notification when they are ready, and opening the app collects any that are. If you save repairs as edits, tap the notification to apply them: iOS asks once to let the app edit them. If you save repairs as copies, they appear in your Repaired album on their own. You can also choose photos by hand. Each successful repair uses one credit.
If a photo still hasn't come back after a day, check your credits, then email us with the date of the photo.
I'm out of credits
Open Picture.Repair and start a plan or add a top-up, or wait for your plan to refill at its next renewal. Photos that were waiting are repaired after that. Skipped photos and failed repairs never use a credit. If a purchase doesn't show up, open the app again while you're online; if it still doesn't appear, email us with the App Store receipt.
Cancel or change my plan
Plans are App Store subscriptions. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions and choose Picture.Repair, or in the app open Credits > Manage subscription. You can switch between Plus and Pro or cancel there. After you cancel, your plan credits last until the end of the period you paid for, and top-ups you bought never expire.
I don't like a repair
Undo it (see below). Your original is always kept. If the repair changed something it shouldn't have, like a face, a person or the place, please email us the date of the photo. That helps us improve the checks. A repair that fails our own check is never delivered, and its credit is returned automatically.
Undo a repair
In the Photos app, open the photo, tap Edit, then Revert. Or in Picture.Repair, open the photo and tap Undo repair. Either way the original comes back exactly, because Photos keeps it. With iCloud Photos, the Revert applies on all your devices. A Live Photo that became a still when it was repaired is restored as a Live Photo.
Remove a repair, as an edit or a copy
How you remove a repair depends on Settings > “Save repairs as”.
- Edits (the default): Revert the photo, as above. There is no separate file to delete.
- Copies: in the Photos app, open Albums > Repaired, select the copy and delete it. If iOS asks, choose to delete the photo rather than only remove it from the album. The original is a separate photo and isn't affected.
Either way, our server deletes its copy of a repair after 7 days.
Turn off auto-repair
In Picture.Repair's Settings, turn off auto-repair. New photos are no longer sent. You can still pick photos to repair by hand. If you set up a Shortcuts automation, delete it in the Shortcuts app under Automation. To stop Picture.Repair from seeing your library at all, change its access in Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
